Drake has spoken.
Two days after Grammy-nominated producer Tay Keith was found dead in his Nashville apartment, the rapper posted a tribute on Instagram - his first public response to the loss of one of his closest collaborators.
Drake posted a portrait of Tay Keith in memoriam, writing: "Endless and eternal gratitude for your spirit and your contributions to this thing that we all love so much... You will be deeply missed."
A friend had requested the police welfare check after growing concerned when Tay Keith couldn't be reached. Building staff helped officers gain entry to his apartment, where they discovered his body.
Metro Nashville Police have confirmed no foul play is suspected. An autopsy is still pending, and no cause of death has been determined.
Tay Keith's family released a statement calling him "a visionary producer, songwriter, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and cultural force whose work helped define the sound of a generation."
Drake's tribute adds to an outpouring from the hip-hop community. BlocBoy JB, one of Keith's earliest collaborators, posted a broken-heart emoji alongside the words: "We talked every day - you didn't tell me you was leaving."
Tay Keith was 29. The autopsy results are still forthcoming.
For those grieving an unexpected loss today, the words of Psalm 34:18 remain: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
