New Faces for Friday - Meet Cherose
Cherose grew up in the church playing various instruments, dancing and, of course, singing. The daughter of parents who were early pioneers of Gospel Music in Nigeria, you could say that worshiping God through music is in her blood. A graduate of the Los Angeles Recording School in Hollywood, California, Cherose got her degree in Recording Engineering. That knowledge led this young woman to go farther in music as a singer, songwriter, rapper, producer and business executive. The CEO of Cherose Entertainment wants to take music that honors God to another level and listening to her songs, you see that she is doing just that.
Her lead single, "Power," is a dance tune that will get you on your feet (or moving in your chair) while not skimping on lyrics. Strong vocal chops share center stage with a raw honesty as she sings, "Jesus, give me strength. I'm weak." Yes, you can get your groove on while listening to this one, but you will never have a single doubt in your mind as to exactly who her "power source" is while you do it.
Shifting gears to "Answer Me! (Intro To Final Examination: 2 Greatness)," Cherose delivers spoken word that gets your attention right away and holds it as you remember those moments that you've been right there - crying out to God, feeling like you are in the middle of some super important test.
Her skill on the mic shows up on "When It All Ends." Rap meets electronica and the battle cry is to wake up! Again, pulling no punches, she asks, "When the clock stops and God calls you home, will your life show the good that you've sown or all red lights in the danger zone?" "Breakthrough" again finds this strong woman of God taking the mic to the mat as her rapid fire delivery doesn't miss a beat.
"Are U Ready?" asks hard hitting questions about the end and makes you look at your own life and walk. We don't know the date or the time, we just know that Jesus will return for His bride like a thief in the night and we don't want to be caught unaware.
In a nutshell, Cherose is something different and something special. This isn't a lady that is dancing to the world's tune, nor is she dancing to her own. This young woman is dancing to the tune that her Savior laid down for her and she invites us to dance with her.
