'Michael Jackson Is The Highest Earning Dead Person': Jackson Emerges On Top Of The List With $140 Million Earnings
Forbes released the list of this year's highest earning deceased celebrities. The list is based on meetings and talks with the estate managers, lawyers, and licensors in order to analyze the approximate posthumous retributions between October last year and this year.
Michael Jackson still holds the throne as the world's top earning dead celebrity of 2014, even five years after the singer passed away. The King of Pop beats the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley.
According to Forbes, the King of Pop has a total of $140 million in earnings while the King of Rock and Roll made $55 million in earnings over the year and lands the two spot. Cartoonist and "Peanuts" comic strip creator Charles Schulz claimed the third spot with $40 million. Jackson released his second album after his death, Xscape, which ranked at number two in the pop charts in the past year. He also had a holographic appearance at the Billboard Music Awards. His holographic performance thrilled the fans.
According to Cbsnews, Elvis Presley has his continued album sales plus the tourism to Graceland.
In the fourth spot is Elizabeth Taylor who has $25 million total earnings. Most of here earnings came from her bestselling perfume as well as her old films. The attraction to Taylor made everyone consider that her brand may still evolve in the future.
Meanwhile, reggae singer Bob Marley rolls to the top five of the list. The artist has an approximated $20 million in earnings. His face can be seen on T-shirts, messenger bags, mugs, and even in fruit-flavored drinks. As a motto in the Marely Beverage Company, "Wake Up and Live". Marilyn Monroe sits at number six with $17 million. John Lennon, the former member of the band Beatle, gets the seventh place as he made $12 million. The famous scientist Albert Einstein is ranked eight with $11 million. Tied in the nine place are Theodor Geisel, Bruce Lee, Steve McQueen, Bettie Page, and James Dean, all with estimated $9 million each.
According to NYdailynews, the thirteen deceased celebrities noted on the Forbes list have made an overall earnings of $363.5 million.
