Reba McEntire's Dad Passed Away
Posting on Twitter, country music's superstar Reba McEntire has revealed that his father had just passed away. Reba's dad Clark McEntire passed away on Thursday night in Coalgate. The director of Brown's Funeral Service in nearby Atoka confirmed the death, saying McEntire had been in declining health since suffering a stroke a few years ago. He was 86.
Reba writes: "Daddy passed away last night in Coalgate, OK at 11 pm CST. He had been in the nursing home for a while and we're very thankful he is not suffering anymore. He was a born and bred cowboy through and through. He had been sick for 5 years. It makes total sense to me, he always told us kids never to run your horse to the barn. He was just taking his time to go on home."
Funeral home director Eddie Brown says a service will be held Wednesday.
Recently,Reba McEntire surprised many fans when she recently released a brand new song via her website and facebook entitled "Pray for Peace." This song is not only written by the country superstar herself, it is one of her most heartfelt songs that is so appropriate for our current times. "Pray for Peace" is her first release since her 2010 "All the Women I Am" disc which featured the smash hits "Turn On the Radio," "If I Were a Boy," and "When Love Gets a Hold on You."
"The idea to write this song came to me last year as I was walking on our place in Gallatin, Tn.," McEntire wrote on Facebook. "For days, I'd sing 'Pray for Peace' over and over....I feel this song is a gift from God. I have never worked on a song as long as this one." Both the song and the video for "Pray For Peace" are available for free download at McEntire's website, www.Reba.com.
