Apple iOS 8.1: Should You Update or Not?
Apple iOS 8.1: Should You Update or Not?
Gotta Be Mobile release a helpful update about the new Apple iOS 8.1 which will be out this coming Monday. This new OS is the update for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad out of beta and its released for the first time. Here are some details that you need to know about the iOS 8.1 before updating your device.
Last September, few weeks after iOS 8.0 came out of the beta program, Apple released iOS 8.1 beta. iPhone and iPad users really waited on iOS 8.1 release because of some problems encountered with iOS 8.0 and iOS 8.0.2 on Apple's iOS 8 update.
As promised, Apple released the iOS 8.1 update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch last October 20th. The iOS 8.1 update is an upgrade that comes packed with new features and some fixes for those touting iOS 8 powered devices.
The new iOS 8.1 seems like not really immuned from bugs of their own. Some iPhone or iPad users are complaining that they cannot install the new OS in their device. They said the installation process stopped abruptly. Some also said that the iMessages in iPhone 5 phones stopped sending immediately after installing the iOS 8.1 update. There are also Wi-Fi issues in iPhone 5s and iPhone 6. These complaints are just part of all the feedback Apple received and they're already talking about it.
Later on, Apple already fixed the problems in Wi-Fi, battery or cellular data even problems with AirDrop. Some of the fixes don't work to everyone, well maybe you have to bring the device to an Apple Store to get diagnosed or perform a factory reset.
On the other hand, Redmond Pie released a comparison between the new iOS 8.1 and its rival, Android 5.0 Lollipop. The two OS differs much in their home screen design, lock screen, phone dialer, keyboard, app drawer and other apps. The visual comparison of the two platforms - barring the features - can actually help you determining if and where the two platforms have borrowed visual elements from one another.
Hopefully, there will be more fixes to come, surely Apple will face this problems to make sure that their new OS will work on your device.
