'Manhattan Love Story' Officially Cancelled: Ratings Chopped Off the Show

After four episodes of airing, "Manhattan Love Story" was terminated from the primetime schedule. It was reported that one of the reasons could be the lack of spontaneous reaction between the couple, Jake McDorman and Analeigh Tipton.  They are supposed to engage in a relationship to portray how distinct the perceptions of men and women on exactly the same thing.  Halfway through the journey, the two somehow failed to act the characters assigned to them in a manner that would seem realistic and entertaining to the viewers.

It was reported that the show premiered with 4.3-4.7 million viewers only with a rating of 1.3-1.5 in 18-49 bracket, such is a shaky start already. After continued airing, it remarkably dropped to 2.6-2.7 million viewers in its recent airing with a rating of 0.7.  Given the downward trend in its performance, ABC was compelled to stop the comedy series, the first to happen this season.

"Manhattan Love Story", written by Jeff Lowell, was not able to withstand the demands of the American audience.  Even in its first airing, it failed to capture the hearts of its viewers. With the consistent decrease in the number of viewers, not to mention negative reviews, ABC had to give up.

ABC confirmed the cancellation of "Manhattan Love Story" last Friday.  Anyway, said show would be off next week for the Halloween programming and supposedly will be back on Nov. 4.  Another show to observe is "Marvel's Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D., which is also not doing well in the ratings. In 2013-2014 seasons, ABC also cancelled "Lucky7" after two episodes only.

Wegotthiscovered.com claimed that the elimination of the show coincided with the new plan for "Selfie", also a newbie. It was reported that ABC seemed to be more devoted to "Selfie", which is also expected in view of its better performance rating than "Manhattan Love Story". After the Halloween, ABC will air "Selfie" continuously. It was created by Emily Kapnek, and stars Karen Gillan, who also played the lead role in "Doctor Who".  The actress also appeared in the "Guardians of the Galaxy".
