According to Bailey, every professional athlete knows when to quit. A career must end, and one should make his exit before then. This allows one to go into another phase of life, he said in a statement realeased on NLF outlets.
He thanked his supporters besides making it clear that the decision to retire came after a great deal of thinking. This dispelled fears that he may have been instinctive.
Bailey's retirement statement was published by Broncos. He played for both Broncos and Redskins. He made 207 starts in 15 seasons. He became a favorite NLF name in 1999 when he was made the No. 7 overall pick.
