Victoria Osteen to Appear in Mark Burnett's 'Women of the Bible' Project
Lakewood Church's co-senior pastor Victoria Osteen and the wife of popular preacher and author Joel Osteen will take part in a new TV special focusing on the Bible's most famous ladies. The two-hour long show will be called "Women of the Bible" and will air on Lifetime Dec. 7 as a prelude to the start of a new drama series focused on four women from the Old Testament.
"Women have obviously played such an important role in biblical history, and Mark and I are excited to shine a light on these individual stories through the eyes of some of today's most incredible women of faith," says producer Roma Downey.
Moreover, Roma Downey said the special will shed light on some little known facts about the Bible's heroines. Downey is making the show with her co-producer spouse, Mark Burnett, who also worked together on History Channel's "The Bible," which drew large audiences last year.
Stories of prominent biblical women will be blended with interviews with contemporary women in faith. Victoria Osteen will take part alongside Christine Caine and Priscilla Shirer, who co-founded Going Beyond Ministries. Eva Rodriguez from the Latino Evangenlical Women's Association, Kay Warren of Saddleback church and Bible teacher Joyce Meyer will also take part.
"Women of the Bible" is a prelude to a mini-series, called "The Red Tent," starring Minnie Driver which will tell the story of Dinah, the daughter of Leah and Jacob.
Downey is also set to host a series for TLC in 2015 on people who have witnessed real-life miracles. The couple, producers behind the Emmy-nominated "The Bible" series and the film "Son of God," are also raising $25 million to help Christians displaced or affected by the ISIS terror group in Iraq, Syria and neighboring countries before the winter arrives.
