Tenth Avenue North's "Cathedral" Makes an Impressive Debut on the Charts
Christian pop/rock group Tenth Avenue North's brand new album "Cathedrals" is making a big splash on the charts after it was released last week. The album debuted at #1 this week on both iTunes (#14 overall) and Billboard's Top Christian Albums Charts and landed at #32 on the Billboard Top 200.
"Cathedrals" which speaks of our calling to live out God's purposes in our lives is an album that addresses many issues we face today including the church, community, loving God and others, and worship. The first single, "No Man Is An Island" is already gaining momentum at Christian radio, climbing into the Top 10 on the National Audience, AC Monitored and CHR charts.
Produced by John Fields, known for his work with Switchfoot, Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato and Pink, brings a refreshing sound to the album. Tenth Avenue North comprises of lead singer Mike Donehey, drummer Jason Jamison, guitarist Jeff Owen, bassist Ruben Juarez, and keyboardist Brendon Shirley. The group made its national debut in 2008 on Reunion Records with "Over And Underneath," which spawned the hits "Love is Here," "By Your Side" and "Hold My Heart." Tenth Avenue North won the Gospel Music Association Dove Award in 2009 for New Artist of the Year, and in 2010, "By Your Side" was named Song of the Year.
In support of its new release, Tenth Avenue North embarked on a special Fan Tour for street week, which kicked-off with the live "Campout to Cathedrals" event. The online interactive video chat featured the band's countdown to the midnight release of the new record as they took questions from fans, played songs, and received more than 2,000 comments during the session. The band then made exclusive stops in Columbus, Cincinnati, Louisville, Nashville, Indianapolis and Chicago, surprising excited fans all over the country with a high school and college campus live performance and even showing up to a family's home with pizza. While on the road, Tenth Avenue North made phone and Skype calls directly to fans that included singing the their favorite songs and thanking them for their continued support.
The group is currently on its national Cathedrals headline tour circuit through December 5, 2014.
