Hope Askew Speaks About How We Can Give God All the Glory Via "All the Glory Social Media Movement"
After a serious bout with multiple sclerosis which was diagnosed in 2012, Hope Askew has not given up. With the strength that only God can give, she now lives to tell her personal testimony to inspire audiences throughout the world via her new single "All the Glory."
A moving song of surrender and worship, "All The Glory," is more than a single. It's a worship anthem designed to bring awareness to the #AllThe GloryMovement. This is a social media movement of sharing stories of miraculous events, healing and any instances where people are giving all the glory to God.
Hallels: Congratulations on the release of your new single "All the Glory." For our readers who may not have heard it, tell us what is the song about?
I like to think of "All the Glory" as a childlike song that displays a love that someone may have for a gentle God who's always been there. An anthem for a Savior who never lets us down. This song comes from the heart of a person who's in love with Jesus and wants the world to know that they give Him All the Glory! This Christian anthem encourages every believer to declare the same!
Hallels: I believe the song's part of the #alltheglorymovement, what is this movement about? And how can we be part of it?
Yes, All the Glory is the official theme song for the All the Glory Social Media Movement. My compassion for this project developed even stronger upon my return to the US from my European tour of Italy and Switzerland this past January. I made history in a town called Lugnano in Teverina, Italy. I was the first gospel singer to ever visit the area. They started out the evening by asking me the very questions that I pray the movement will answer, but on a global level. "Why do you give God glory"? "Why do you believe"? and "Why do you sing the gospels"?
It is easy to become a part of this movement. Just log onto alltheglory.net and leave us a comment that states why you give God all the Glory. OR, you can paste in your status on Social Media why you give God All the Glory using the hashtag #alltheglorymovement. The kicker here is that you have to tag your friends to do the same. AlltheGlory.net also shares the comments to its All the Glory Youtube channel. This movement has been a blessing to many already and celebrates testimonies from Africa, Italy, Switzerland and the US. Please log on, and share with us!
Hallels: You have been encouraging fans to share their stories of faith and healing. Can you share with us one personal story of faith or/and healing?
I would have to say that the strongest test of my faith was the day I woke up to no feeling in my feet (2008). I remember sitting on the side of my bed wondering why I could not feel my feet on the floor. By weeks end, I was not able to feel anything from the chest down. I walked with a gait, and tingled all over. It seemed as though each day I was starting to lose some type of function. My hands were completely numb and always appeared to be freezing cold making them impossible to use. One day as I headed out to the Dr., something in my spirit said this journey will not be quick. So it became an extreme challenge in the area of faith, because everything I knew as a Christian implied one touch healing. I knew that it would not be that, but I had no reason why. So, with no WHY in tow, I had no other choice but to trust that God would show me the reason. So I put my faith in God's plan! I began to go to nursing homes and encourage people with illnesses to not waiver in faith. To realize that Jesus cares more for the soul than these mortal bodies. To believe that the work we do for the Kingdom supersedes anything that we may be going through in the natural. As I began to do more and more of this, I have developed a love and compassion for people. This is why I started the movement, to encourage people in their broken places. Without this journey, I would never be here. Am I physically healed, no. Am I spiritually healed, yes! I have what was given to me in my name, Hope!
Hallels: Recently you have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, how are you doing now? How has your walk with the Lord been affected by your illness?
I started feeling the symptoms of MS in 2008, I was diagnosed in 2012. Since beginning my treatment in 2012, I am slowly getting better. I have to pay attention to the signs that might suggest a relapse, but I am certainly stronger. Believe it or not, I am working out at a pace in which I never have in life and ran yesterday for the first time in years! My walk with the Lord has not been hindered at all, simply because I did not allow it to be. If anything, it is stronger!
Hallels: Are you working on a new album now? When can we see it released?
We are currently in the process of working on new material for my new project. The project is about 80% done, but we are currently in no rush to release it. As it stands, All the Glory and its' movement is our main focus.
Hallels: You also have had success on the secular R&B front, have you thought of returning to do a secular album?
I have never thought about going back to the secular front. What's really surprising to me is that I was never raised in church, and I have no desire for where I used to be. I remember how hard it was surviving in a world without Jesus. Now that I have Him, it's my passion to introduce him to people who do not.
Hallels: For our readers who would like to find out more about you and your music, where can they go?
They can go to www.hopeaskew.com. I have a LOT of music out there, lol, it can be found by google searching: Hope Askew
