Carolyn Kirksey, Wife of Former Singing News Editor, Passed Away
Carolyn Kirksey, the wife of former Singing News editor-in-chief Jerry Kirksey, passed away after a bout with liver cancer on the morning of July 13, 2015. Kirksey used to write a monthly cooking column for the Singing News magazine and she has published the Singing News cookbook "For the Love of Cooking."
Over the last few years, her health was on a downward spiral. After being diagnosed with liver cancer, she had been in an extended care physical therapy facility since February 2015 and required a few hospital stays during that time as well. She was transferred to Watauga Medical Center in Boone, N.C. on July 1 and had been there ever since.
Carolyn was a friend to many Southern Gospel artists and fans. She was a caring mother to everyone she met. She leaves behind her husband Jerry, sons Kenneth Kirksey and Brett Kirksey, daughter-in-law Deborah M Kirksey, two sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family appreciates your prayers at this time, and we will provide more information when available.
