Australian Band Joel McKerrow & the Mysterious Few Release "Welcome Home"
Australian based 'Joel McKerrow and The Mysterious Few' have just released their brand new album "Welcome Home." Led by internationally renowned frontman poet Joel McKerrow, the Aussie band is pioneering a new genre at the intersection of poetics and musicality. In this collision of artforms they are bringing together a radical fusion of passionate spoken word poetry with layers of beautifully crafted folk/rock music.
Frontman Joel McKerrow is the founder of 'The Centre for Poetics and Justice', was the third ever Australian to represent at the 'Individual World Poetry Slam Championships' in the USA and has performed all over the world from the Sydney Opera House to the famed Nuyorican Poets Cafe in NYC. He has also been a feature poet on the Global Poetics tour of Australia (2011), the Please Resist Me tour of Australia (2012), the Soles of Australia tour of Canada (2012), the One Foot in the Clay global tour (2012-13) and the 'These Wandering Feet' tour of Australia and New Zealand (2013).

Joel has been commended by Canadian performance poet Virtuoso, Shane Koyczan as, 'an exceptional spoken word artist...fiercely political and humane'. And by the Australian National Poetry Slam Champion, Luka Lesson, as, 'a true leader in Australia's performance poetry scene...A man who can tear a roof down with his performances and bring tears with his subtle eloquence'.
Frontman Joel McKerrow is one of Australia's most successful performance poets having toured extensively throughout Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, the UK and Europe as well as releasing two previous studio albums, two live albums and two published books. He is the Artist Ambassador for the aid and development organisation 'TEAR Australia', was the third ever Australian representative at the Individual World Poetry Slam Championships in the USA (2012), has been invited to perform at the Sydney Opera House, the Melbourne Arts Centre, the Victorian Parliament House, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe (NYC) and he is a TEDx speaker and performer. Accompanying the lyricism of this profound poet is a host of musicians at the top of their game. Joel is joined by Melbourne musicians Josh Furhrmeister (guitars, keys), Richelle Boer (vocals and guitars), Jhana Allan (Violin) and Leah Scholes (Percussion).
