Jessa Anderson Teams Up with Her Husband Jordan for Free Christmas Single
Singer and songwriter Jessa Anderson has teamed up with her husband Jordan to release a free Christmas single, titled "O Son of God, We Wait for Thee." The two, known as Jordan & Jessa plan on releasing more music together in the near future.
"Jordan and I recorded a Christmas song that we are giving away for free," the singer-songwriter wrote in to JFH. "It's a reworking of a hymn by Philip F. Hiller, and is based on the tune of 'O Christmas Tree.'"
The Andersons explain how they came to record this Christmas hymn: "In the Fall of 2014, I came across an old Advent hymn called "O Son of God, We Wait for Thee" written by Philip F. Hiller (1699-1769). The song seemed to capture the essence of Advent and the second coming of Jesus, and I found the lyrics deeply moving. Immediately, I wanted to find a way to bring this song to life for our generation. At that point, my mind was focused on other things, and I tucked away the lyrics to revisit in the coming year."
The song is available free to anyone on jordanandjessa.com." Here are the lyrics of the song:
O Son of God, We Wait for Thee
O Son of God, we wait for Thee, We long for Thine appearing
We know Thou sittest on the throne, And we Thy Name are bearing
We long for Thee, and Thy return, When joy and peace will fill the earth
O Son of God, we wait for Thee, We long for Thine appearing
O Son of God, We wait for Thee
We long for Thine appearing
We wait for Thee, 'mid toil and pain, In weariness and sighing
But glad that Thou our guilt hast borne, And canceled it by dying
Your sacrifice our victory, Your righteousness we now receive
We wait for Thee, 'mid toil and pain, In weariness and sighing
O Son of God, We wait for Thee
We long for Thine appearing
We wait for Thee, sure Thou will come, The time is swiftly nearing
In this we also now rejoice, And long for Thine appearing
The hope of man is Christ the Word, Our joy fulfilled in His return
We wait for Thee, sure Thou will come, The time is swiftly nearing
O Son of God, we wait for Thee
The time is surely nearing
