Watch Loretta Lynn's New Documentary Movie Trailer Here
A new documenary titled Loretta Lynn: Still a Mountain Girl will premiere on March 4 at 9PM on PBS. The documentary will deal with the faith, life, and rise of Loretta Lynn from a simple country girl to a major country music star. Lynn is not only a country music superstar with hits like "Coal Miner's Daughter" and "You Ain't Woman Enough (to Take My Man)," she's also a committed Christian who recently released a Gospel album Hymns and Gospel Favorites via Gaiher Music.
Loretta Lynn was the second of eight children. She was named after film star Loretta Young. Ted Webb never got to see his daughter become famous, as he died a year before Loretta's first single, "I'm A Honky Tonk Girl", was released. Three of Loretta's siblings also pursued country music careers: her youngest sister, Brenda Gail, known professionally as Crystal Gayle; sister Peggy Sue; and brother, Jay Lee Webb. Patty Loveless, born Patricia Ramey, is related to Loretta on her mother's side, as is Venus Ramey, Miss America 1944.
In a trailer for the new film, Miranda Lambert and Sheryl Crow share how Lynn broke down the doors for women in music. "Loretta always said exactly what she was going through right then in her music, and that's why it resonates with us," Lambert says .
Crow emphasizes the impact Lynn had on females in music everywhere. "I definitely couldn't be doing what I'm doing unless she had broken down those barriers and had been a songwriter for all of us," she states.
Lynn will be featured as part of Women's History Month during the 30th anniversary season of the American Masters series. The film premieres on March 4, which is also the day that Lynn will release her new album Full Circle, her first studio album in over 10 years.
Still a Mountain Girl features never-before-seen home movies, performances and photos of Lynn. In addition to interviews with Lynn, Lambert and Crow, Lynn's family, friends and musicians including Jack White, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, Sissy Spacek, Bill Anderson and producer John Carter Cash will also be featured.
