Candi Staton Celebrates the 40th Anniversary of "Young Hearts Run Free" with a UK Tour
Soul music legend Candi Staton is celebrating the 40th anniversary of her biggest U.S.A. radio hit "Young Hearts Run Free" with a United Kingdom concert tour that kicks off June 7th at The Sugar Club in Dublin and ends on June 18th at Old Granada Studios in Manchester. The song reached No. 1 on the US R&B Singles chart , No. 20 on the US Pop chart and No. 2 on the UK Pop chart in the spring of 1976. "This tour will be a lot of fun, I'll be singing songs from throughout my career but I'm going to add some songs from the Young Hearts Run Free LP that I haven't performed in concert since the 1970s," says Staton. Staton is busy as ever these days. She'll release her 13th gospel album "It's Time To Be Free" on July 22nd and her riveting autobiography "Young Hearts Run Free" will be published by Heritage Builders on December 13, 2016. The Atlanta , GA resident recently finished a Stepper's version of "Young Hearts Run Free" that will be included on her next R&B album. "Stepping has become a big deal, in a lot of the urban clubs" Staton says. "I wanted to do a new version of 'Young Hearts' but I wanted to make it different so we came up with this groove that we really like so we'll release that sometime later this year."
