Introducing the New Christian British Web Drama Series 'Concealed'
Concealed is an exciting new British drama exploring life issues surrounding faith, love and friendship, from a refreshingly honest and unique worldview. The web series premiered on YouTube on April 24, and has been met with rave reviews among online audiences and viewers, after three episodes. Backed by an excellent crop of emerging British actors, and a relatable and captivating storyline, 7-part series Concealed is a thrilling drama spectacle, gripping from start to finish.
Q: Thank you for doing this interview with us. Congratulations on the success of the web drama series "Concealed." Briefly tell us what is the story about?
Thank you for doing this interview! And thank you very much, we've had such a great response to Concealed. We can only thank God. So, Concealed is a drama series that explores the lives of nine characters - Alika, Evelyn, Giselle, Jackson, Kara, Kojo, Moses, Taj and Tayo. Their lives are intertwined by relationships, faith or the lack thereof, friendships and a lot of history between them. There is a strong narrative of relationships throughout the series - the love triangle between Kara, Jackson and Kojo, the flame that Moses still holds for Alika, and the struggle between spirit and flesh that Tayo & Giselle are stuck in.
Q: Who are some of the cast members on this set of drama?
The Lead Cast of Concealed includes Emmanuel Imani, who stars alongside Kevin Costner and Tommy Lee Jones in Hollywood film Criminal, and Mary MJ King, on the back of her leading role in the Martin Luther King theatre production America: Dreams & Nightmares. The web drama also stars Pierre Adenegha-Howell, who made his West End debut in 2013 in Oliva Tweest, and Nayo Jobson, who has starred in BBC's Silent Witness and Pentland Theatre's Bag Ladies.
Q: Who is your target audience as far as this drama is concerned?
We've had a massive response from young people and adults between the ages of 16-34. Concealed has a message that is applicable to everyone. The content is relatable to any audience, whether Christian or not, young or more mature because the story deals with real life issues, that all of us can understand and connect with.
Q: What I like about this drama is that it's not afraid to engage issues that have to do with God and faith. Is it a challenge to engage faith and God?
It can be a challenge because of how much sinful content is thrown at us everyday. It's very easy to become desensitised to the things we should be weary of. We've had viewers say to us how they are so used to seeing marriage and sex being trivialised in the media that watching Giselle Giselle break down after sleeping with her boyfriend is almost a shock! In Episode 1, Jackson prays to God. Someone said to me "Men don't pray! That doesn't happen anymore!".
There is a major lack of conviction in the world today, and Concealed confronts this by removing the separation between faith and 'real life'. A Christian's faith is their life. The two are not mutually exclusive.
Q: What are some of the values you wish to convey through this drama?
To name a few: purity, waiting on God, praying through trials and forgiveness. Concealed depicts the truth in a lot of situations that are deemed as acceptable these days. For instance, there is very little content out there that depicts fornication as what it is - sin. There are many young people out there who are choosing to give up their virginity because there is nothing out there telling them how precious it is to stay pure. These are some of the issues Concealed portrays from an honest perspective.
Q: Where can our readers watch the various episodes of "Concealed"?
