Tim Tebow Releases New Book "Shaken"
Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow knows a few things about highs and lows. He had a storybook college football career winning two national championships as a quarterback for the University of Florida. A first-round pick in the NFL draft, he led a sensational playoff run with the Denver Broncos two seasons later. Tebow's NFL dreams took an unexpected turn when he was traded to the New York Jets and then cut the following year. The next season he was let go after training camp by the New England Patriots. A dream began to crumble.
In his new book Shaken: Discovering Your True Identity in the Midst of Life's Storms (October 25, 2016, WaterBrook), Tebow offers for the first time a glimpse into his rollercoaster journey as a high-profile athlete and how it has helped shape and strengthen his faith.
Readers will be riveted as Tebow recalls being called into a head coach's office knowing the news will be bad. They'll feel Tebow's sorrow when the reality sets in that he has no job, no car, no home and likely no future in the NFL. They will fight back tears as he shares the stories of critically ill children who have inspiried him along the way and given him a new understanding of what it means to be strong and courageous.
Woven between the stories of his victories and disappointments are encouraging, hard-won lessons on the power of anchoring your identity in God. Through real-life stories and biblical truths, Tebow addresses topic such as:
·Where self-identity comes from
·Courage under pressure
·Beating the voices of negativity
·Staying true to who you are and what you believe
·Making an impact
"One day, according to the world, I'm on top of my game, adored, praised and respected," writes Tebow. "And the next, I'm at the bottom of the heap, cut, criticized and torn down. You know what I learned in the process? How important it is not to allow either the highs or the lows in life to determine who you are."
"In those places of doubt and even darkness I've realized that who I am has nothing to do with wins or losses, applause, or negative criticism," Tebow continues. "It has to do with whose I am. Knowing this, I can live out what the king of ancient Israel wrote in Psalm 16:8: I have set the Lord continually before me; Because he is my right hand, I will not be shaken."
Tebow's experiences will connect with football fans and faith followers alike. Not only will readers be encouraged as they tackle life's obstacles, they will also be inspired to make a difference.
