We would like to thank Life Through Color for taking the time to speak with us.
Hallels: How has the reception been to your album Aftermath?
Jimbo: "It has been an inspirational reception! Everybody who has bought it has loved it!"
T.Pope: "The reception has been wonderful. Everyone who purchased the album has been pleased from the feedback we've received. It even landed us an Alabama People's Choice Award for CD of the Year."
Rockette: "The reception has been great. We've been getting really good feedback and people have been showing their support. We really appreciate that."
Hallels: How would you describe your sound for people that haven't heard of you guys and what artists have influenced your sound?
Jimbo: "It is raw and personal. I wouldn't say any artist has influenced our sound, but we do get inspiration from other artists who are in the same genre."
T.Pope: "Our sound is very down south. I wouldn't say other artists influenced our sound but some have influenced our direction - artists like Lecrae, Andy Mineo and Thi'sl."
Rockette: "Our sound grabs your attention because it's good quality music that people can relate to."
Hallels: Was it difficult to release such personal thoughts and feelings on your songs?
Jimbo: "I wouldn't say it was difficult. I have always felt like the more personal you are and transparent you are in your music, the more relatable you are to the fans."
T.Pope: "It wasn't difficult to me. It actually was an honor because we want to encourage someone facing the same if not similar issues."
Rockette: "It wasn't difficult at all to release my thoughts. I consider music to be my diary. I'm not ashamed to express my feelings through the music."
Hallels: What advice would you give to up and coming Christian rappers?
Jimbo: "Stay true to yourself and stay true to the Word! Even as Christian artists, you will experience ups and downs. Just keep the faith and remember the big Guy (God) is always in control."
T.Pope: "I would tell up and coming artists to just ensure you have a strong relationship with God and build your faith in him. Then, just do what's in your heart."
Rockette: "I advise them to never give up and remember that anything is possible with God."
Hallels: How do you feel about the state of the Christian rap scene?
Jimbo: "It is gaining more and more exposure every day which is opening up doors for more and more artists."
T.Pope: "I feel pretty confident with the state of Christian hip-hop. It's growing like crazy, which is a beautiful thing.
Rockette: "The Christian rap scene is growing and I believe in 5-10 years, it's going to be just as popular as secular music."
Hallels: Why should people choose your album to listen to over others?
Jimbo: "It's just very relatable, and many of the songs and the stories shared happened recently. I promise you won't skip any song on the album!"
T.Pope: "I think people should choose our album because it has its own testimony within its self. It has messages for certain people in certain stages of life."
Rockette: "I advise people to choose our album because everything on it is from our hearts. It's what we've gone through in life. Our album is our testimony and it shows you what God can do."
Hallels: If you could collaborate with one Secular Artist and one Christian Artist, who would you choose?
Jimbo: "My secular artist would have to be Big K.R.I.T. His music got me through some tough times. He is a very spiritual man. I just like how humble he is. My Christian artist would be Andy Mineo. That guy is an amazing artist and awesome Man of God!
T.Pope: "My secular collabo would be with T.I. I think for the most part he's very positive. Yea he makes some off the wall tracks at times but you just can feel the genuine good guy he is. A family man. My Christian collabo would be with Trip Lee. I just vibe with him and like his approach on music, life, etc."
Rockette: "One secular Artist would be Lyfe Jennings and one Christian Artist would be Lecrae."
Hallels: Do you have a current scripture that has been speaking to you? If not, what are some personal favorite verses of yours?
Jimbo: The scripture or scriptures that have been speaking to me is Hebrew chapter 11 verse 1 through 40! It goes into great detail about faith and the acts of faith By God's people. It really keeps me going through the good and bad times. We have to have faith to get out of the boat - just like Peter did."
T.Pope: "One scripture that speaks volumes to me is Galatians 6:9. It tells us not to be weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. That verse stuck to me from my 1st reading and I never forgot it."
Rockette: "My favorite scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Hallels: If you guys could each play professionally for any sports team for one day, who would you guys pick?
Jimbo: "I would play for the best NFL team in the World: The Chicago Bears! I played college football, and was a part of a conference and national runner- up championship team. So I would like to add a Super Bowl ring with the Bears to my trophy Case!"
T.Pope: "I would run point guard for the Miami Heat. Back in the day I won a high school championship and college championship. So now I need that next-level ring."
Rockette: "I would play professional basketball for the Houston Rockets. That is my favorite NBA team."
Hallels: What are your touring plans for 2014?
Jimbo: "We aren't officially touring yet but more and more shows are being added to our schedule. So by the end of 2014 and the start of 2015 we will be in a city near you!"
T. Pope: "We're currently not touring but our booking have really picked up."
Rockette: "In 2014, we plan to continue spreading the Word in cities throughout Alabama as well as visit cities in GA, TN, and anywhere else God leads us to."
