5 March Releases We’re Excited About
As the warm spring weather greets us in March, the warm (and familiar) voices of some of the most well-liked Christian artist will also fill our airwaves. March is the month of the veterans. Long-time CCM stalwart Jaci Velasquez, former Hillsong Worship's matriarch Darlene Zschech, Grammy Nominated MercyMe, American Idol's alum Colton Dixon, and regular worship favorite Elevation Worship all have new music ready for our enjoyment and worship. So, here's a brief look at these new albums that are coming our way.
Darlene Zschech, Here I Am, Send Me (3/3)
Cancer squirms in the face of the Savior. This is the theme of former Hillsong Church's worship pastor Darlene Zschech's life and her latest album. Her first worship album since her bout with cancer, Zschech partners with co-writers Leeland, Paul Baloche, Jenn Johnson, and Martin Smith to craft brand new anthems that testify of God's love and faithfulness. The songs on this project are destined to be the soundtrack of the church's worship just like Zschech's "Shout to the Lord" was and is today.
Elevation Worship, There is a Cloud (3/17)
North Carolina's Elevation Church returns with an exceptional live worship recording. There Is A Cloud features brand new songs including the title track, "Do It Again," "Forever I Run," and others.
Colton Dixon, Identity (3/24)
With album number three, American Idol's finalist Colton Dixon discovers his own identity. This new album finds Dixon setting to music what is at central of his own value system and his own heart. Featuring lyrics that are fresh, potent, personal, and life-transforming, the music incorporates Dixon's traditional alternate rock template with new invigorating pop and dance beats making this what Colton calls the most "fun" album to date.
Jaci Velasquez, Trust (3/31)
Trust is bilingual, multi-platinum selling recording artist and actress Jaci Velasquez's first ever worship album, released by Integrity Music. The muse of this project is Velasquez's youngest son, Soren, born in 2009. Awakened in the middle of the night by Soren who was having "bad dreams," Velasquez consoled him by singing worship music. This gave Velazquez the idea of recording an album's worth of songs directed to the worship of God. Produced by Leonard and Chris Bevins (Salvador, Phillips Craig & Dean), Trust features new songs penned by Velasquez and her husband Nic Gonzales (lead singer of Salvador) along with songs by Martin Smith and Michael Farren.
MercyMe, LIFER (3/31)
MercyMe's LIFER follows on the heels of their RIAA Certified Gold and GRAMMY® acclaimed Welcome To The New. While the predecessor deals with God's grace and our identity in Christ, LIFER functions as a handbook of how a grace-encountered child of God lives the Christian life. So, why are we excited about this record? This record gives us practical handles of how to face trials ("Happy Dance"), disappointments ("Hello Beautiful"), and guilt ("Grace Got You"). Most importantly, it takes abstract theological truths such as the doctrine of the Holy Spirit ("Ghost") and makes it palatable to the plebeian on the street.
