Sensere Releases Lead Single "'Tis So Sweet" from their New Album
One of South Florida's best kept secrets is indisputably the Gospel soul band, Sensere. With 2 critically acclaimed albums under their belt, Sensere possesses a powerful presence that is undeniable the minute you hear their unique, yet dominating sound. If there was any question before as to why you should give them your undivided attention, their new single "Tis So Sweet," which is available at iTunes now will eliminate all doubt!
The 10 member band returns to the music scene in a major way after a two year hiatus. They pay homage to the legendary group Commissioned, who revolutionized the sound of Contemporary Gospel with their distinctive harmonies and timeless compositions. A familiar hymn to most church goers, Commissioned recorded their beloved version in the mid 80's on their national debut release "I'M GOING ON" on Light Records. "Tis So Sweet," became one of the unforgettable songs from that project. Now over three decades later, Sensere has managed to encapsulate that same magic, masterfully keeping the authenticity of the original version, but updating it with a soulful tenderness felt by every listener.
Founder, James Wright, explains why they decided to remake such a classic song. "Well, I really can't take the credit, I have to give it to our manager, Gerald Jones, it was his idea. He knew Commissioned has always been a big influence on our sound, so he said who better to tribute such an influential band in Gospel than another band trying to blaze that same trail. I was extremely nervous because I knew it would be career suicide if we messed it up, but now that it's completed, I'm happy I listened to him."
"Tis So Sweet" is available now on iTunes and all digital platforms. It serves as the lead single from Sensere's forthcoming third album due out later this year. The untitled third album is the follow-up to Sensere's first national release SOUL OF FUTURE WORSHIP VOL. 1 and their top 20, chart-topping, second album KINGDOM THERAPY.
About Sensere:
Sensere is an award-winning Gospel band hailing from Miami. They are comprised of an eclectic mix of vocalists and instrumentalists that include: James "JDubb" Wright, Dontrail Wright, Brian Williams, Tristan Dowridge, Dwayne Charlton, Timothy Wimberly, Darryl Efford, Charles McKay, Wildmayer Marcelin, and John Robinson. The group has taken the gospel music industry by storm since the release of their debut studio album "THE SOUL OF FUTURE WORSHIP VOLUME 1." Their second project "KINGDOM THERAPY," released in 2015, peaked at #13 on Billboard's Top Gospel Album charts and remained in the top 30 for 9 consecutive weeks. Their contemporary offerings - described as a fusion of funk, soul, and Gospel - have earned them commercial and critical acclaim; most notably two Gospel Association Guild (GAG) Awards in their ten-year tenure. Along with boasting the distinct honor of being the first Gospel group to perform at the annual Jazz In The Gardens festival - opening for PattiLaBelle, Kenny G and Mary J Blige - they have also made noted appearances on BET's "Bobby Jones Gospel," TBN, and ABC/CBN's "700 Club."
Quotes:
Donald Lawrence (Award winning Producer/Songwriter)
"During a time when Gospel music has become somewhat monolithic, it's refreshing to hear and see a new male group emerge delivering a warm, live, music interpretation of this Commissioned classic "Tis So Sweet."
Stanley Brown (Music Executive & CEO of Timeless Music Group, Inc)
"Frankly speaking, I was a bit concerned when I heard they were going to remake such a popular song in Commissioned's discography, but they did an incredible job. It's like if Commissioned and Mint Condition had a baby...this is exactly what you'd expect their baby to sound like!"
Bishop Michael & Lisa Page Brooks (Original member of Commissioned & Stellar nominated vocalist) "It is AWESOME! Great arrangement and the singers are amazing!"
Justin Francis (CEO of 2017 Stellar Award winning Internet Station, SoarRadio.com)
"I wasn't familiar with Commissioned's version of "Tis So Sweet," but after listening to Sensere's remake, I had to check it out! This will definitely be in heavy rotation on our station!"
Paula Champion (Sunday Best finalist & celebrated vocalist)
"From the very top of the until the end, I was hooked! Horns...strings...vocals...YES! YES! YES! And YES again! What a beautiful approach to a beloved classic."
