Chicago's Trinity United Church Of Christ's "Stay Connected" Debuts at #5
Audiences across the country have given their approval as Stay Connected, the new two disc set from Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III and the choirs of the Trinity United Church of Christ lands in the number 5 spot on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart.
"This is without question a God thing", says Bryan Johnson, Director of Sacred Music and overseer of the 400 plus singers, dancers and musicians that make up Trinity's worship arts department. "Our goal was to give the audience a heaping portion of the worship experience we have every Sunday during our 3 services. We had no idea it would evolve into 28 tracks, but we purposed to give God our very best. With masterful production from A. Jeffrey LaValley and Plu Harmon, Stay Connected sends a message that not only speaks about the gospel of Jesus Christ, but also delivers a universal message of love, inspiration, and hope," Rev. Moss echoes those sentiments, "This project was conceived as homage to the deep African American roots of Gospel Music, seeking to show the strong connection to African and Afro-Brazilian Sacred Music traditions. I am incredibly proud of the journey we are able to take the listener through."
Stay Connected marks the triumphant return of Trinity's music ministry after a 15-year hiatus. The Sanctuary Choir made its debut in 1997 with The Artist, featuring the smash hit cover of the James Cleveland classic Jesus Will sung by the Barrett Sisters in addition to Very Well written by Grammy nominee and Stellar Award winner Darius Brooks and V. Michael McKay's Salvific Praise. In 2001, Let Your Will Be Done was released, which featured the radio single, Let Your Praise Cover It Up. Stay Connected features the infectious radio single God Is Good written by Kevon Carter and also highlights music from the Women's Chorus, Men's Chorus, Sanctuary Choir, Youth Choirs, Mass Choir and Tribe of Judah ensemble.
