Cedric Ballard Celebrates 2 Decades of Music
Houston's own Minister Cedric Ballard makes a joyful noise as he celebrates 2 decades of music and ministry. The in-demand singer, songwriter, worship leader and workshop facilitator will celebrate his birthday and ministry anniversary with a concert on October 22nd at the Bella Vista Baptist Church .
Ballard has been singing for as long as he can remember. "Growing up in and around the church, you were going to do either one of two things, that was to sing or to preach and in some cases, you did both," said Ballard. As his talent grew, so did the opportunities, and the door opened for him to record and travel with the group Damascus. Following the leading of the Holy Spirit, Cedric segued into a solo career that included the release critically acclaimed 2015 CD Transparency, which spawned a number of radio hits including My Praise Belongs To You, They That Wait, a cover of the classic Agnus Dei (Holy) and Not My Will.
"All the glory goes to God," Ballard proclaims. "Looking back over my life, I can easily concur with the hymn writer that wrote I've come through many dangers, toils and snares; and it was nothing but God's grace that has brought and sustained us through the trials of life. And God isn't finished, there's more work to be done, and I'm letting the Lord know I accept the assignment and I am available and ready for whatever he has called me to do."
Joining in the celebration on October 22nd is Gary Mayes, Tanner Gary, the Houston Mass Choir of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Angela Bennett, Soulfruit, Leona Daniels, Wallace Grant and a very special reunion of the group Damascus among others. Ballard will debut his new single, Lifting Jesus composed by award winning songwriter V. Michael McKay during the concert. The single is the first song from Ballard's soon to be released new project, and heads to radio and digital outlets over the next couple of weeks.
