Marvin Sapp Wows Sold Out National Symphony Orchestra Audience
Marvin Sapp, who recently received his 11thGRAMMY® nomination, performed with The National Symphony Orchestra at The Kennedy Center recently, as it celebrated the 25th anniversary of the award-winning Handel's Messiah. The one-night only event also featured BeBe Winans, Chante Moore, The Clark Sisters, Take 6, Deitrick Haddon, Jennifer Holliday and other artists.
Sapp performed "Lift Up Your Heads, O Ye Gates" with The Clark Sisters, which was a magical reunion because Hammond and Sapp, as members of Commissioned, recorded the original version along with The Clark Sisters. Sapp's other featured performance was "O Thou That Tellist Good Tidings to Zion" with Take 6 and Fred Hammond. Sapp also performed in the grand finale of "Hallelujah!" with the full cast. The sold out audience received Bishop Marvin Sapp enthusiastically each time he graced the stage.
Show-stopping pops concerts have been a staple of the National Symphony Orchestra's more than 80 years of performances. These concerts have ranged from performances on a barge on the Potomac River, to concerts on the Ellipse, and in National Parks around the greater Washington area. NSO Pops performances take place at all the NSO's principal performance venues: Wolf Trap, the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, and in the NSO's primary home, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, with a subscription season featuring the Orchestra with guest artists from a variety of musical genres.
One of the most beloved voices in Gospel music, Marvin Sapp is internationally acclaimed. He is a multiple GRAMMY® and Billboard Award nominee, two-time BET Award winner and multiple (22) Stellar Gospel Music Award recipient. Sapp is Senior Pastor of Lighthouse Full Life Center, with locations in Grand Rapids and Muskegon, MI. He is also Metropolitan Bishop within the Global United Fellowship, overseeing more than 100 churches in 19 states.
