HILLSONG UNITED Hit Song "Oceans" Wins 'Worship Song of the Year' at 2014 K-LOVE Fan Awards
Hillsong UNITED was in attendance at the second annual K-Love Fan Awards in Nashville,TN on Sunday night at the famed Grand Ole Opry. The internationally known worship band took home the award for 'Worship Song of the Year' for their massive single "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)" and also performed the No. 1 song to close out the evening.
This is Hillsong UNITED's first K-LOVE Fan Award. Singer Joel Houston and Taya Smith accepted the award and Joel shared, "We are just church kids from Australia who love the church and believe in the church. And as songwriters we like to set sail and believe God to breathe on a song, and God breathed on 'Oceans' more than we could ever have asked or imagined."
The 2014 K-LOVE Awards were hosted by award-winning artist Matthew West and Dancing With the Stars® finalist Candace Cameron Bure. The fan-voted awards show "celebrated and promoted artists, athletes, authors and entertainers who, with excellence, engage and impact popular culture for Jesus Christ."
Earlier this month "Oceans" earned the band their first No. 1 radio single and the official lyric video has received more than 10 million views. This song comes from ZION, the band's most successful and fastest selling album to date, which released February 2013.
"Last year when ZION released, we saw 'Oceans' climb the sales charts as well as the positive fan response to this song," shares Grant Hubbard, Capitol CMG Label Group, Vice President/National Promotion. "Knowing the song was so special and resonating with the listeners, we wanted to get it into the hands of the radio programmers. UNITED continues to make history with this album and this song, and we are so thrilled to see them receive their first well-deserved No. 1 radio single."
Hillsong UNITED have always been groundbreakers and showed that again with their latest release, the White Album [Remix Project], they have made history. The album, released March 3, is the first Christian-based album ever to hit No. 1 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
