Soul'd Out Quartet Reaches Out to a Wider Audience with New Album
Soul'd Out Quartet's goal has always been to create inspirational gospel music that resonates with a wide audience. On their latest album Run To The Light, they do that with thoughtful writing, strong vocals and a progressive sound. Run To The Light is available now on Horizon Records.
"For a long time, my heart has really been to create a bridge for the generational gap that exists in Christian music," says Matt Rankin, the group's founder and baritone singer. "I strongly believe this is Soul'd Out's best showing for that effort thus far!"
Rankin is joined by Dusty Barrett, tenor; Jason McAtee, lead; and Ian Owen, bass, who each bring vocal depth and energy to Run To The Light.
"The Return," the album's first release to radio that's climbing national charts, is a powerful song reminding people that the day of Christ's return is drawing near, and that their remaining time on Earth should be used to lead others to Christ. While the song starts slowly it builds urgency, highlighting the importance of sharing God's message of salvation with family, neighbors and friends, so that they too will reach Heaven's golden shore.
The album continues with songs like "I Will Do The Same" and "Next To A Holy God" that are about recognizing God's greatness. "That Wonderful Day," is an upbeat gospel tune written by Rankin that features him and leans toward the traditional quartet sounds with the bass vocal step-outs on the chorus. The song talks about the profound transformation that happens when you accept Christ as your savior and the power of knowing He'll never leave you. The album closes with "Water Grave," which tells the story of a man whose old self has died. He finds renewal in baptism and comes back from the "water grave" a new man. The song stands out musically with elements of today's contemporary styles, keeping with Soul'd Out's progressive sound.
"I love this album! It's my favorite Soul'd Out project since joining (and probably ever)!" says bass singer Ian Owens. "I really feel that Matt's incredible writing coupled with the stellar vocal offerings from Dusty, Jason, and Matt really brings Soul'd Out back to the progressive gospel/inspirational sound that I, and so many others, really fell in love with many years ago."

About Soul'd Out Quartet
In May of 2004, in answer to God's call on his life, Matt Rankin of Georgetown, Ohio started a journey to find men of kindred spirits and equal yoking to partner with him in a mission to fulfill that calling by evangelizing God's word through song. Now, in 2013, Matt's calling and dream have been realized in Soul'd Out Quartet. Soul'd Out Quartet, which is comprised of Dusty Barrett (tenor), Jason McAtee (lead), Matt Rankin (baritone), Ian Owens (bass), is not only a vocal group continuing the heritage of Southern Gospel music, but is also and foremost a ministry team answering God's call as stated in Ephesians: He gave some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors, and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-13 KJV) The quartet is accompanied by band members Philip Kolb (piano), Austin Sprouse (lead guitar), Adam Sprouse (bass guitar), and Jake McAtee (drummer) and Zach Loyd (front of house sound). In this spirit, Soul'd Out Quartet travels the country with a mission of evangelism and discipleship to not only win souls for Christ by telling the world "what the world doesn't know," but also to further strengthen and encourage God's people to be the salt and light to the world and ambassadors for Christ, that we are each called to be and to exhort God's people to be servants with hearts on fire!
