Movieguide® Awards, Which Honors Inspirational/Christian Films, Announces Nominees
During Hollywood's award season, movies that are both well-made and uplifting can often go overlooked. However, the 27th Annual Movieguide® Awards Gala will celebrate just such movies on Feb. 8, 2019 at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and will air on Hallmark Channel later in the month.
Community Coffee is the title sponsor of the event, who will award one special young person $10,000 and the Community Superstar Award for their positive contributions to their community.
Dr. Ted Baehr, founder and publisher of Movieguide®, announced the ten movies which will compete for a $25,000 prize for Best Family Movie of the Year, an award supported by a grant from the Ware Foundation.
In addition, the event will honor the Best 2018 Movies for Mature Audiences, the Epiphany Prizes for the Most Inspiring Movie and Television Program, The Faith & Freedom Awards for Movies and Television, and the Grace Awards for Most Inspiring Performance in Movies and Television.
"These movies are not only family-friendly, entertaining and well crafted," Dr. Baehr said. "They also have strong stories which reveal the good, the true and the beautiful. That's what the Movieguide Awards are all about."
At the event, Dr. Baehr will present highlights of Movieguide®'s 2019 Report to the Entertainment Industry, which analyzes all movies from the major and independent studios in regard to their box performance and the movie's content across thousands of data points. This annual report is a barometer of what kinds of stories and messages deliver the best box office returns.
