John Berry Reveals He Has Cancer

John Berry

Grammy Award-winning country star John Berry has revealed that he has throat cancer.  Berry first noticed symptoms in his throat during his 2018 Christmas tour in November. He managed to get through the 21 dates without compromising his clean country sound, but the irritant - described as like having part of a peanut stuck in your throat - never went away, despite treatment.

On January 4th, Berry and his wife Robin went to see an ear, nose and throat doctor. A CT scan revealed two tumors in his tonsils. Following surgery to remove both tonsils and part of his soft palate, Berry got the biopsy results and was told he had tonsil cancer.

Berry assures fans that this particular cancer is "highly treatable and has an incredible cure rate," with Robin chiming in that there is over a 90% cure rate.

Robin encourages fans to reach out. "There is nothing greater that John needs right now than to hear from you guys that love him so very much," she says, sharing how to reach Berry at JohnBerryMusic413@gmail.com and by mail at P.O. Box 353, Gallatin, TN 37066.

Recently, Berry eleased the title track for Big Film Factory's exhilarating new feature film, "Beautifully Broken" to radio. The song, which features heartfelt lyrics, is perfectly paired with the compelling film that tells the riveting true story of three families, worlds apart, whose paths seem unlikely to cross. Each family faces a crisis beyond their control and is forced to make difficult decisions. Those decisions set in motion a series of events that leads to their lives becoming intertwined in ways they could have never predicted or imagined. Their journeys reveal the divine tapestry of God's love and guidance, and they learn firsthand the power of forgiveness and reconciliation.

Berry has placed 20 singles on the county hit parade charts, six of which went Top 5 as well as a #1 on the Billboard and Radio & Records country charts. He has earned numerous Gold and Platinum records. Berry's co-written "A Mind Of Her Own" and "Kiss Me In The Car" introduced him to radio audiences in 1993. Then, "Your Love Amazes Me," "What's In It For Me" and "You And Only You" thrust him to stardom in 1994. "Standing On The Edge Of Goodbye," "I Think About It All The Time," and "If I Had Any Pride Left At All" were all major hits the following year.

"Your Love Amazes Me" earned Berry a 1995 Grammy nomination. Berry took "Change My Mind" into the country music Top 5 in 1996. "She's Taken A Shine" became an even bigger hit in 1997. That same year, he was nominated for CMA Vocal Event of the Year for "Long Haired Country Boy" with Charlie Daniels and Hal Ketchum. Both fans and the media took note when "There He Goes" was released as a 1999 duet with Patsy Cline.
