Josh Turner’s Crew Bus Crash Leaves 1 Dead, 7 Injured
A tour bus carrying country music artist Josh Turner's road crew crashed Wednesday night, leaving seven of the passengers injured and one dead. According to multiple reports, the bus was leaving the Vina Robles Amphitheater in Paso Robles, California, after wrapping up a concert for the country musician, when it crashed off of Highway 46 near Shandon.
"Josh Turner and his road family have suffered a devastating loss," Turner's rep tells Billboard. "Please keep the crew, band and Josh in your thoughts and prayers."
The singer and his band were on a different bus and not involved in the crash, which happened shortly after their latest show at the Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles on Wednesday night, investigators said.
The crew bus had only driven about 20 minutes when it suddenly veered off Highway 46 near Shandon just before midnight, hurtling about 20 feet off the road before plunging down an embankment, according to KSBY.
At least two people were thrown from the bus, including the crew member who died, the station said.
Turner recently released his first Christian record I Serve a Savior, adding a new dimension to the GRAMMY® nominee's already acclaimed career. The faith-based collection includes hand-picked hymns, alongside brand-new originals and live recordings of some of Turner's most memorable hits including "Me and God" and "Long Black Train."
I Serve A Savior is a landmark album from one of the pillars of the country music community. A dream come true for Turner, the gospel project is one that fans have been asking to hear for years. More than that, it reflects the heart of the artist and is a personal manifesto. "My faith is the most important thing to me," said Turner. "I want people to hear the sentiment and heart behind this record. I want them to feel the same inspiration that I felt. I want them to feel that and hopefully they'll make these songs a part of their life."
