Ryan Stevenson Remembers His Late Mother in New Song "When We Fall Apart"
Today, award-winning artist and songwriter Ryan Stevenson announces the release of a personal new single, "When We Fall Apart." Stevenson specifically penned the song for his mother, Phyllis Stevenson, and chose to debut the song today, the 10th anniversary of her passing.
"My mom died ten years ago today from bone cancer," Stevenson openly shares. "The last words she spoke to me are the words to this song. Even in the face of imminent death, she was pouring out wisdom and words of healing and encouragement to me that it's ok to cry, it's ok to grieve, it's ok to fall apart. We are all going to experience loss at some point to some degree. This song has been my way of working through and navigating one of the most painful storms of my life. I hope it encourages you to do the same."
An emotional music video for the song also debuts today, which can be viewed here or below. The video was directed by Dustbrand Films' Nathan Corrona (Lecrae, Crowder), and the single was produced by Micah Kuiper and mixed by Bryan Fowler, both for Man Cub Music House.
Ryan Stevenson is performing "When We Fall Apart" live, along with many of his hit singles, on the road this fall where he is currently out with Newsboys United and their Greatness Of Our God Tour (click here for tickets). Additionally, it was just announced he will be part of the 2020 TobyMac Hits Deep Tour. Tickets are on sale now at KLOVE.com and TobyMac.com . Earlier this year, Stevenson's "With Lifted Hands" became his fourth consecutive top 10 Billboard Christian Airplay single, and this past summer he received his first RIAA Gold Certified® single for his record-breaking song, "Eye of the Storm." No. 1 for 16 total weeks in 2016, including nine weeks at Billboard's Christian Airplay/Audience, "Eye of the Storm" was also at the top for 14 consecutive weeks on Billboard's Christian AC chart, and listed as the No. 2 Billboard Christian AC song of 2016. The song also won a Dove Award for Christian Pop Contemporary Song of the Year in 2017, and was nominated for two 2017 K-LOVE Fan Awards as well as a 2017 Billboard Music Award for "Top Christian Song."
