Pink Floyd New Album 'The Endless River' Releasing Fall 2014, First Album in 20 Years (VIDEO)
Legendary rock band Pink Floyd has announced that they will be releasing a new album titled The Endless River. This will be their 15th studio album and first in 20 years, releasing in October.
The album will have David Gilmour (guitar/vocals) and Nick Mason (drums) working on completing sessions with the late Rick Wright (keys) who passed away at age 65 in 2008. The new album is being co-produced by Phil Manzanera, Youth and Andy Jackson.
Author Polly Samson (Gilmour's wife), took to Twitter to break the news on Saturday, writing, "Btw Pink floyd album out in October is called The Endless River. Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful."
Touring Floyd singer Durga McBroom-Hudson took to Facebook to reveal more details about the new album journey sharing, "The recording did start during the Division Bell sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled 'The Big Spliff' that [Pink Floyd drummer] Nick Mason spoke about). Which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it. But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then," she wrote Sunday. "It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them."
Fans are hoping that Gilmour might offer original singer, Roger Waters, a chance to record on the new album, but this appears unlikely. The Endless River is a continuation of sessions started during the recording of The Division Bell-and Waters didn't appear on that album.

"'Endless River' grew out of unreleased recordings from 20 years ago: Dubbed 'The Big Spliff,' these ambient, lyricless recordings were originally constructed by the core group of Gilmour, Mason and Wright during the same period that Pink Floyd was at work on their last album, 'The Division Bell,' in 1993-94. They have remained unheard ever since, until Gilmour and Mason returned to them late last year."
