Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb Opens This December
The holiday season is set to be even merrier as "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb," opens on December 19, six days ahead of its original schedule. Shooting began last February and is well underway.
This is the third installment of the "Night at the Museum" franchise, which is based on a 1993 children's book written by Milan Trenc. Released in 2006, "Night at the Museum" was followed by "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" in 2009.
The series has earned close to a billion dollars worldwide.
Coming from the critically acclaimed "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," Ben Stiller returns as Larry Daley, the bumbling security guard who's always on night duty, the time when the museum's objects are off to some mischief. Larry's latest adventure brings him to London's British Museum, where he would have to face an Egyptian pharaoh brought to life by an enchanted tablet.
Robin Williams, Owen Wilson and Ricky Gervais reprise their roles as Theodore Roosevelt, Jedediah and Dr. McPhee, respectively. New additions include Ben Kingsley, who plays the pharaoh, and Rebel Wilson, who also plays a night security guard at the museum. Completing the ensemble cast are Dan Stevens, Skyler Gisondo, and Steve Coogan.
With a screenplay written by Robert Ben Garant, David Guion, Michael Handelman, and Thomas Lennon, "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" is directed by Shawn Levy.
