Minions Star in Despicable Me Prequel
Minions Star in Despicable Me Prequel
The whacky and adorable Minions are starring in their own movie!
Catch them in the animated comedy adventure "Minions," a spin-off-slash-prequel to the highly successful "Despicable Me" movies. It is scheduled to be released on July 10, 2015.
The "Despicable Me" franchise follows the adventures of super villain Gru, the Minions, and three orphans: Margo, Edith, and Agnes.
A teaser of this movie was first seen towards the end of "Despicable Me 2," wherein the Minions were seen auditioning for roles.
Roaming the earth for millions of years, these yellow creatures have evolved for a singular mission: to be mercenaries for the world's most treacherous villains. Their bumbling antics, however, have led to the downfall of all their masters, ranging from T.Rex, Genghis Khan, and Dracula. Depressed, they decide to start over in stark and isolated Antarctica. The lack of purpose makes them restless and so they set out to find a new boss. Fast forward to a 1960s villain convention - the Minions find themselves competing for the privilege of working for Scarlet Overkill, who is set on world domination by becoming the ultimate female super villain.
Sandra Bullock lends her voice to Scarlet Overkill while Jon Hamm is cast as Herb Overkill, Scarlet's husband and inventor extraordinaire.
Written by Brian Lynch, "Minions" is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda.
