The Cashmans Release Highly Anticipated Sophomore Album "Burn"
Christian music duo The Cashmans have released their much-anticipated sophomore full-length album, Burn. Produced by Grammy-nominated and two time Dove award-winning producer, Rusty Varenkamp (Tenth Avenue North, Ellie Holcomb, TobyMac, MUTEMATH, Kristian Stanfill), this 12-track follow-up project to The Cashmans' debut album City of God (2018) is a breath of fresh air in the contemporary Christian music scene with its innovative pop, worship, and indie acoustic collaborations.
The Cashmans teamed up with accomplished songwriters Matt Armstrong (Chris Tomlin, Lauren Daigle, Bethel Music, Casting Crowns, Zach Williams, Passion, I AM THEY, Jesus Culture), Sarah Hart (Amy Grant, Audrey Assad, Jason Gray, Matt Maher, Robbie Seay) and producer, Rusty Varenkamp (Chris McClarney, Ellie Holcomb, Jonny Diaz, JJ Weeks) to craft many of the songs on Burn. The husband and wife duo also had the privilege of collaborating with some incredibly talented musicians, including Nashville's legendary session violinist and string composer, David Davidson.
"We started working on this record towards the end of Britney's third trimester when she was pregnant with our firstborn miracle baby, Everly," explains Jonathan. "As you can imagine, trying to juggle life as new parents with the already busy schedule of touring, the writing and conceptual process of this record took well over a year to create. That being said, we feel blessed to have had that extra time because we were able to put a lot of thought, prayer, and intentional energy into these messages and melodies."
As a married couple, Jonathan and Britney went on a journey that year together, both emotionally and spiritually, and consequently, these songs they wrote during that time became an honest by-product of that journey.
"We had an amazing team working with us, led by our extremely talented producer Rusty," continues Jonathan. "Because of that, we were able to capture something special on this album. The concept of Burn is inspired by the scripture in Jeremiah 20:9 'His Word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not.' The album is book-ended with our songs "Burn" and "Slow Burn," hopefully driving home the message that our relationship with God is not measured by peaks and valleys, but rather, a slow, steady fire within us that's kindled by His Word. We're very excited to release these songs to the world and we're praying they will be a true blessing and encouragement to all who hear."
In addition to releasing Burn, The Cashmans are releasing an accompanying 12 chapter devotional book with the same title that will release later this year alongside additional music videos supporting future singles!
