Collington Shares the Inspiration Behind "Vagrant"
New England based singer-songwriter Collington releases his fourth 2020 single "Vagrant." The song is an ambient-acoustic track that serves as the final stanza to Collington's 2020 releases.
"I worked through a few versions of the song" says Collington "I had almost abandoned the song. Usually if the song doesn't click I'll move on to another song. For 'Vagrant' I really felt like this song was important for me to finish. The song was written as I was coming to terms with things about myself personally. I've always described my songs as journal entries, for me, this song was hard to put out because it's pretty honest. My friend Nate (Of the Lion) helped me clean up some of the lyrics. This song came out of a season of processing feeling detached from myself emotionally. This song is about fighting to wake up."
Arriving in the dead of night to a remote cabin in a car filled with instruments and recording equipment. It was the brisk of winter and a new series of Collington songs began to take shape on the distant shores on Maine. Formerly working with Eric Owyoung (Hillsong United, Jon Foreman) as a producer and mentor on the "In Between" EP, Collington set out to self-craft a set of songs to rival the former releases. From more acoustic tracks as a nod to the artist's roots, to full out rock production, the sequence of songs represents the artist's strongest content yet. Beginning on June 26th with the track "Against the Wall", Collington will begin to release a series of songs over the summer months of 2020."
