Being Mary Jane Season 1 : Not Everything Is As It Seems With Single Women, Married Men And Family
Being Mary Jane. If you have not watched this series then trust me you are missing out on something really interesting. This drama television series was created by Mara Brock Akil and the main star is Gabrielle Union who does an amazing job as Mary Jane.
She is was able to bring out the best and the worst of her character but then again we are talking about Gabrielle Union people.
The series premiered on January 7th 2014 on BET and it had more than 4 million viewers. Having had positive reviews and I do agree with them that this series is one that made me look forward to the next episode after the other.
Now, the story is based on a black female who has it all. She is a successful news anchor, who has it all a gorgeous house, amazing wardrobe, even her hair is just perfect however they say no one is perfect in this world and so is Mary Jane Paul. Even though she has the perfect job her love life is a total mess and her family is one to look out for as the force her to make decisions in her life that are tough. Her friends are also kind of crazy with problems of their own nonetheless this is what makes it interesting.
With her career life being just fine Mary find herself in awkward situations sometimes as she is forced to talk about her friends on air and some of them even end up committing suicide. The most interesting part is when she discovers that the man she has been dating is married and she chases him out of her house in the middle of the night with no clothes on. This part just made my night and to my surprise she decides to continue seeing the guy even after the revelation of his marital status. Well this series is full of surprises and some of the decisions she makes just leave us wondering how crazy she is.
My all-time favorite scene is when she tells her friends that she stole sperm from one of her love conquests and kept it in the freezer! The expression on their faces are priceless but then again I can't blame them. I mean who does that? It's crazy, no matter how bad you want to have a man's baby you do not go to such extremes just to have one. The touching part about this whole situation is that when she confessed to the guy, he tells her that if she had asked he would have gladly given her the baby she wanted from him cause he loved her. I now right, so touching.
Anyway this first season did give me something to look forward to and I can't wait to see what season 2 has to offer. We all just have to wait and see.
