Gas Street Music Releases Second Single "The River"
Following on from their first release 'Praise To You Alone', Gas Street Music's second single from their forthcoming EP is titled 'The River' and comes out today! This song speaks of the river they see running from the heart of the Father to humanity.
They say "We want to jump into that wild place of his love. So many things happen in the river; we find freedom and joy." The accompanying music video recreates the sense of total freedom that broke out in their gathering when this song was first sung, with people literally running through the church during worship, expressing that uninhibited joy and passion.
'The River' perfectly encapsulates the message at the core of Gas Street Music's 'Rewilding' project, which is about letting go and embracing the unpredictability and disruption that can come from living in the "wide open space", to open our eyes to the wonder of God as we make room for life to come flooding back in.
'The River' has a strong gospel music vibe, echoing the diversity of expression not only of Gas Street Church and the city they serve, but also of the body of Christ.
Gas Street Music is the sound of Gas Street Church in Birmingham, UK; a community with a deep desire to worship God and see His Kingdom come. They believe every area of life should be woven in worship, leading people wholeheartedly into an encounter with Jesus.
With worship leaders and songwriters such as Tim Hughes, Luke & Anna Hellebronth, Nick Herbert, Michael Shannon and Millie Tilby, as well as new voices, Gas Street Music collectively continues the legacy of writing and leading songs that fuel personal devotion and gathered expression. Their new music is being birthed out of the rich diversity of the church community.
Building on the foundations of Worship Central, a global movement to train and resource the Church, Gas Street Music are entering a new season. Sensing the time was right, they are beginning to unlock their heart cry, and are creating space for their community and city to be filled with songs and sounds of life.
