Author and Pastor Randy Frazee Offers Practical Ways of How We Can Tap into God and His Promises

Randy Frazee

Randy Frazee, the lead pastor at Westside Family Church in Kansas City, releases his new book this week. His Mighty Strength: Walk Daily in the Same Power that Raised Jesus from the Dead (Thomas Nelson) equips readers to find the freedom from the things that hold us back and walk daily in the same power that lifted Jesus from the grave. In His Mighty Strength, Randy offers a fascinating and refreshing discovery of the life and nature of Jesusthat answers the skeptics questions.

We have the honor of speaking to Pastor Randy Frazee for this exclusive interview.

Q: Pastor Randy, thanks for doing this interview with us. Congratulations on the release of you new book, very briefly, tell us what is the book about?

The Bible tells us that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, lives in us. This book probes how we can walk daily in that power.

Q: You have recently been through a time of clinical depression, what happened there? How are you doing now?

Ironically, I was in the middle of writing this book on walking daily in the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and I could barely raise myself off the couch. I believe God didn't cause it but was using this dark experience to test the principles through my life.

I ran into a bout of serious betrayal for a small group of people. It sent me into survival mode, but I wasn't able to recover in my own strength. When my psychiatrist, psychologist, counselor, and Christian family doctor all diagnosed me with clinical depression, I was devastated.

While it didn't happen instantaneously, the principles I address in this book, all rooted deeply in scriptures, helped me to fully recover. I was able to not only finish a book on walking daily in the same power that raised Jesus from the dead...I am living it!

Q: Did this time of depression inspire you to write your new book?

I was already under contract with Thomas Nelson to write this book. The depression came in the middle of writing. I actually turned in a full manuscript and then completely rewrote it to reflect my personal experience with the truths presented. I will tell you this, it has made the book so much better. Instead of it just being a biblically stimulating rich book on what Jesus did to show us the way to access supernatural power for living, it includes my personal experience and journey.

Q. In our times of powerlessness, how can we tap into God and his promises?

Powerlessness is becoming a pandemic in and off itself. Depression, anxiety and even suicide are at the highest levels we have seen in a very long time. People need hope. What we are experiencing today was the experience of the first Christians who lived during Jesus' time. But Jesus said he would send help, a Comforter and Counselor who also has unlimited access to power.

Here is the three steps Jesus lived out to tap into God and this promise -

• Empty - We need to empty ourselves of the illusion of control

• Align - We need to align our life to the will of the Father

• Empower - We don't need to try harder but yield harder to the Holy Spirit

Q. What do you think keep us from drawing from the incredible resurrection power of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives?

We don't want to give up the illusion that we are in control. We don't want to align our lives to the will of the Father. We want God to empower our will. Here is what Jesus taught us, "the power of God is reserved for the will of God." In Matthew 6:33 Jesus told us we can't just invite God into our kingdom, we must exit our kingdom and enter into God's kingdom. When we do, we will find access to amazing power to live out God's will in our life and usually get all the things we wanted when we were living in our kingdom.

Q: How can we discern God's voice when other voices seem to be overwhelming?

Jesus said, "My sheep recognize my voice. I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27MSG) The closer we get to Jesus, the clearer his voice becomes. There are three ways we can recognize the voice of God -

• God's Word - God's Word contains his will for us.

• The Spirit - God's Spirit whispers to our spirit in a "still small voice."

• Circumstances - God often aligns our circumstances to make his will clear. When all three line up, we can be as sure as one can be that we have heard the voice of God.

Q: What do you hope readers take away from this book?

I want readers to take away some serious hope from this book. I want them to know that if they are followers of Jesus, they do not have to live a powerless anymore.

Q. Where can people connect with you online, and where can they pick up a copy of "His Mighty Strength"
