Worship Leader Ashley Davis Reveals How Her Song "This is What Heaven Sounds Like" Was Birthed
Ashley Davis, the worship leader of Calvary Chapel Mountain Home, has released her new single. "This is What Heaven Sounds Like" is released via Homegrown Worship. The song is a powerful reminder of how heaven will be a place where people of many colors gather in unsion to lift up the name of Jesus.
Davis sings: "This is what Heaven sounds like/All the saints lifting up one song/A melody of many colors/A tune we've known all along/And now we'll sing it out forever In your presence here on earth/This is what Heaven sounds like/All the saints lifting up one song."
Listen to the song HERE.
Davis recounts how the song was birthed: "I have had the opportunity the past few years to attend a worship leaders conference once a year. Every session we have these amazing times of teaching and worship, how can you not with a room full of people that love worship?
This past year in particular, there was one special night where the worship leader asked us to call out our favorite worship songs. Then, we proceeded to go on this beautiful journey of songs ranging from hymns to 20's years ago, to modern day worship. It had such a rich texture as many generations of worshipers split into harmonies and put their heart into singing out songs of the past that meant so much to them. I thought to myself, "This is what heaven sounds like! I could worship like this forever!".
Putting that moment into words that I could describe is difficult, as I felt the moment transcended sound, as if now we only hear it, but in heaven that melody would be heard, felt and seen! I quickly wrote down the chorus to this song."
