Debbie Cochran Explains How Forgiveness Simplifies Our Hearts

Christian country music artist Debbie Cochran is back with her brand new album. Simplify is produced with Grammy and Oscar nominated producer, Kent Wells (Dolly Parton, Paul Anka, and Grascals) and it features 10 new songs all penned by Cochran.

The album speaks about "simplifying" our hearts by forgiving the hurts and bitterness inside it. Cochran explains, "One morning, I was gathering newspapers for recycling. As I tossed them into the bin, it was like closing a door to the troubles of the world."

"In the same way," Cochran continues, "we can have a fresh new start through the power of forgiveness. We can clean out our hearts (Simplify) through forgiveness. I have learned that holding on to the thorns of life will only continue to sting. Forgiveness is like a fresh coat of paint. This summer I want you to take the inner tube challenge. Move on down the river the same way you move ahead in life through the power of letting go. Simplify is not about where we come from, it's where we go from here. Don't forget the "SON" screen!"

With such simplicity comes a new sense of joy. Such a joy, like the rays of a sunshine after a rainy season, shines right through these songs. "These songs tell heartfelt stories of faith through loss, hope, memories and joy. The past year has been uncharted waters for all of us and the noise of the world can drown out what matters the most. But, when I hear birds singing as the sun comes up, it reminds me 'if his eye is on the sparrow, I know he's watching over me.' I am not alone on this journey. God is the wind at my back."

Simplify also finds Cochran reuniting with her long time friend and producer Kent Wells. Wells is the producer behind iconic projects for Dolly Parton. "I have worked with Debbie for many years and continue to be amazed by her songwriting, sincerity of delivery and work ethic," says Kent. "This Gospel project is particularly special and timely after the challenges we have all faced over the last year."
