'Fight Club 2' Release Date 2015 Announced, Author Chuck Palahnuik Shares on New Cast & Plot
Fight Club 2 is coming nearly twenty years after author Chuck Palahnuik's hit 1996 novel. The sequel was hinted at during Comic Con in 2013 but now Palahnuik is giving more details about his new writings as he spoke with USA Today.
Palahnuik shared with USA Today that he will collaborate with interior artist Cameron Stewart and cover artist David Mack to create a 10-issue comic maxiseries for Dark Horse Comics. Main characters Marla Singer and Tyler Durden will return 10 years later and explore the narrator failing his 9-year old son Junior in the same way that his father failed him.
"The original book was such a tirade against fathers - everything I had thought my father had not done combined with everything my peers were griping about their fathers," Palahniuk revealed. "Now to find myself at the age that my father was when I was trashing him made me want to revisit it from the father's perspective and see if things were any better and why it repeats like that."
Palahnuik shared that the second book is going to be set alternately in the future and the past, with the notion that "Tyler is something that maybe has been around for centuries and is not just this aberration that's popped into his mind". Palahnuik has said he has gone for the "cartoony" approach, to better accommodate "some of its more absurdly comical moments".
Currently, their is no movie sequel in the works for Brad Pitt to star in again, but once the comics release there will definitely be a rising noise about fans wanting to see a sequel movie be made.
Fight Club 2 will hit stores on April 8, 2015.
