Ayrn Michelle Puts a New Spin on the Sermon on the Mount with "Blessed are the Poor"
Dallas-based singer and songwriter Ayrn Michelle has put a new spin on the beatitudes of Jesus when she releases "Blessed are the Poor" today. The single is the second release from Aryn Michelle's Beautiful EP, a project about the life, teaching, death and resurrection of Jesus. Co-written by Erin Corrado Music and Erica Violet Music and produced by Paul Demer, here's a sample of the lyrics:
Trapped in an unjust world
Found wanting, I'm found alone
I got nothing to offer
Then came a teacher so upside down
Bringing more than religion
Saying the first are last
The least are the greatest
He told me to rejoice
And be glad 'cause
In 2015, Michelle released Depth, an album made up of theologically heavy questions to coax listeners to reconsider their own faith in light of biblical truth. In 2017 she released The Realest Thing, a concept album inspired by Christian apologetics where each song explores a different philosophical argument for the existence of God. It was named one of Kevin Davis's TOP 10 Albums of the Year 2017 for New Release Today. In 2019 she released an EP of prayer and praise songs entitled "Nothing Can Take Me Away."
Michelle's emotive, alternative pop musical style is "unlike anyone you've ever heard in Christian music." (Christiandance.eu) She strives to engage the mind as well as the heart so that the truth of scripture resonates with the listener in a fresh way. Aryn Michelle's latest project Pariah (a concept album about biblical outcasts) is releasing as singles all throughout 2021/2022 and has already won awards from The Great American Song Contest and Worshiptherock.com.
