J.Long Sets to Release "J.A.I.M.E. (Jesus- Absolutely- Is- My- Everything)"
Singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist J. Long is set to release his eagerly anticipated new album J.A.I.M.E. (Jesus- Absolutely- Is- My- Everything), a play on his actual name Jaime on June 1st. The uplifting and soulful album was written, co-produced, and performed by J.Long featuring a collection of 9 songs. J.A.I.M.E. is a deeply personalized album of uncompromising artistry and a new unique way of hearing Christian music.
The album is a masterpiece, brilliantly written and produced; he credits his wife, author, and criminal justice consultant, Cyntoia Brown Long for being a constant source of inspiration. Before they met, he was feeling discouraged, he contemplated hanging up his microphone when a call from a major label with an offer, landed him back in the studio to work on a new album. In a rush to complete the album he had already told his attorney he was ready to present, he found himself in the studio with writer's block for the first time in his life. Looking up at the tv screen, a YouTube recommendation that had popped up repeatedly over the past 3 days, would go on to give him more than the musical inspiration he was hoping for. Feeling called to something bigger, he pushed his work on the album to the backburner and began a journey of faith with a woman imprisoned for life in Tennessee. In his first letter to her, he told her what the Lord had shown him: "You're about to get out of prison. God is bigger than any judge, jury, or law that has told you otherwise."
J.Long never finished that album for the major label, saying, "When my wife was in prison, I chose to put my focus on being there to support her. I couldn't be the prayer warrior she needed and do music 100% at the same time! I knew God was calling me to be there for my wife!" When asked if he had any regrets about losing the opportunity to see success in music once again, he emphatically declared that "the counterfeit always comes before the real thing. I know in my heart that God shifted my attention from that album to show me what He had for me, and it's far better than what was outlined in that deal."
J.Long taps into every side of the multifaceted artist himself- showcasing his smooth but yet silky and raspy voice, rich storytelling, and incredible musicality drawn from and inspired by his musically gifted family and two favorite musical artists, D'Angelo and Prince.
When asked about the title track of the album, which is also the album's lead single, J.Long stated, "J.A.I.M.E. makes the listener want to move and is all about giving God glory." Another standout track is "Step On It" which is a record that makes you want to move and groove to it. When he was asked about the meaning behind this record he said, "The message behind it also gives God glory and the listener hope. One who's struggling with depression, this song was written by me to remind them, God is in control, and with God, you can beat depression!"
When asked about the record "Runaway" J.Long stated, "Runaway" has a laid-back mid-tempo vibe. This song tells the listener don't run away from love. The real love that Christ has for us and what He sacrificed (including His own life) in order that we'd be set free if we choose to believe in Him. This song tells the listener we all struggle with sin but there is forgiveness for that through Christ! It's a vibe for sure!"
J.Long is excited about the new project and stated, "The purpose, the growth...the content-it has all the components. It's not a black people album or a white people album, it has something on there for people from every walk of life."
