Anchor Hymns Paraphrases 1 John 4:9-11 for "This is Love"
Anchor Hymns' new single "This is Love" is a paraphrase of 1 John 4:9-11, "This is love; not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."
The multi-artist community was so moved by this passage that they wrote a call-and-response way for people to hear and sing these powerful words. Their hope is that the soothing folk soundscape will help imprint these words in heads and hearts alike.
The song was recorded in a small living room in East Nashville, packed full of friends. "It was hot and sweaty, and we didn't care," says Anchor Hymns founder, Andrew Osenga. Led acoustically by Taylor Leonhardt with Dwan Hill on the piano, "This is Love" seeks to help us remember that God's love in the pursuit of loving each other in turn.
This is Love (This is Love)
Revealed to us (Revealed to us)
He sent his one and only son
That we might live through him
