Prestonwood Baptist Church and Prestonwood Christian Academy to Host Biblical Worldview Conference

Prestonwood Baptist Church

Prestonwood Baptist Church and Prestonwood Christian Academy will host their annual Biblical Worldview Conference September 24-26 at the church's Plano Campus.

Formerly named Biblical Worldview Institute, the conference has drawn students, educators and parents from throughout North Texas since 2005. It is designed to challenge mainstream culture with intentional, thought-provoking speakers and topics. More than 4,000 are expected to attend what could be the largest apologetics and worldview conference in the country.

This year's conference features world-renowned apologists including Lee Strobel, Dr. William Lane Craig, Scott Lindsey, Mary Jo Sharp, Justin Brierly, Dr. Jeremiah Johnston, and Dr. Jack Graham, among others.

Themed "I AM," the focus of the conference is a Christian's identity in Christ, The Great I AM. The conference includes general sessions, nine main stage speakers, 13 breakout sessions and a new evening session on Sunday for those who are unable to attend during the week.

"Our focus at the conference this year will be on the critical topic of identity," said Dr. Johnston, PCA Dean of Spiritual Development. "Who among us hasn't noticed secular culture shouting the myriad ways we should identify ourselves? Race, gender, sexuality, political affiliation, and the list goes on and on. Yet we know that all of the chaos and confusion can be resolved when we ground ourselves in the truth of who Christ says we are."

As a parent of five, Dr. Johnston says he understands how parents and grandparents are overwhelmed by the societal challenges that kids face today.

"In the U.S., a person's worldview begins to develop between the ages of 15 to 18 months and can be formed by the age of 13. Research shows that most Americans die with the same basic worldview they had at age 13 - expanded and better articulated, but essentially unchanged," he said. "So, does this mean you are stuck with the same worldview for life? No! In Romans 12, we're reminded that our worldview must change; but this does not happen automatically for Christ-followers. It takes consistent intentionality."
