'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' New Music from Lorde, Singer Picking All Artists for Soundtrack (VIDEO)
The new movie soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 will be up to the decision making of teen pop star Lorde. It has been announced that she will be putting out a new song for the main track on the album and will personally handpick the rest of the songs and artists for the soundtrack. She promises that some of her choices will "surprise people."
"Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance," she said in a press release. "The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience."
This will be the 17-year-old singers second time on a Hunger Games soundtrack as she cover Tears For Fear's "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" for the movie's second soundtrack.
The Hunger Games movies and soundtracks have a long history with critically acclaimed music and big name artists including Taylor Swift, The Civil Wars, Coldplay, Arcade Fire, Christina Aguilera, Imagine Dragons and more.
There is no official release date set for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack. The movie is set to hit theaters on November 21st.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Danny Strong and Peter Craig and produced by Nina Jacobson's Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the third in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has over 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.
Lorde's No. 1 hit with "Royals," won two GRAMMY awards and she has quickly become one of the biggest names in pop music.
