Gabby Barrett's New Album with Include Vocals from Phil Wickham, Luke Combs and Miranda Lambert
Following the massive announcement of Gabby Barrett's highly anticipated sophomore album, Chapter & Verse, she's revealed the track list for her February 2 release. Fans can pre-save/pre-add Chapter & Verse here.
Marking her most autobiographical work to date, Chapter & Verse finds Barrett taking greater creative control than ever before and co-producing every track alongside GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter-producer Ross Copperman (a co-producer on Barrett's PLATINUM debut Goldmine and Goldmine (Deluxe)).
Featuring a guest spot from Phil Wickham ("The Verse: Doxology (Amen) (Feat. Phil Wickham)") and background vocals by Luke Combs ("Dance Like No One's Watching"), the full-length project also finds Barrett serving as a co-writer on 9 of its 14 songs, as well as collaborating with heavy-hitters like Miranda Lambert ("You're My Texas").
In a stunning evolution of Goldmine and its Deluxe edition - a 2020 release with smash singles like mega breakout 7X PLATINUM #1 "I Hope," 4-week Hot AC #1 crossover "I Hope (feat. Charlie Puth)," 3X PLATINUM three-week #1 "The Good Ones," and PLATINUM "Pick Me Up" - Chapter & Verse includes previously released "Glory Days" - her current single that's Top 20-and-climbing at Country radio, "Cowboy Back," and "Growin' Up Raising You," in addition to standouts like "Dance Like No One's Watching," which Barrett teased to an overwhelming response in an Instagram post last year.
Along with fully leaning into her Country roots on Chapter & Verse, Barrett's further deepened the emotional scope of her songwriting and created an up close portrait of her experience as a wife and mother of two children, with her third baby on the way. To that end, the album's title refers to the chapters and verses within each book of the Bible, as well as the still-unfolding chapters in her marriage, family, career, and overall journey through life.
Out now, "You're My Texas" is a full-hearted love letter to the Lone Star State and all its idyllic beauty. In bringing the dreamlike track to life, writers Barrett, Lambert, and Hillary Lindsey mined inspiration from Barrett's personal ties to the state (her husband Cade Foehner was born and raised in East Texas) and Lambert's own East Texas upbringing. Laced with impossibly lovely images of the Texas landscape - bluebonnets, honeysuckles, pine trees, and breathtaking sunsets - "You're My Texas" conjures up a mood of wistful devotion right from its very first lines: "I can get lost on a merry-go-round / Spinnin' in circles baby / It's hard to keep my two bare feet on the ground."
A gorgeous showcase for her warm yet powerful vocals, the Copperman and Barrett-produced stunner unfolds in airy textures and gently tumbling rhythms, then opens into a soaring chorus as wide as the Texas sky. Before closing out, "You're My Texas" reaches a glorious peak at the bridge, serving up a majestic guitar solo and a soul-soothing message of loving assurance from Barrett: "And I can chase this dream of mine all around the world / But as long as I'm your girl."
"When I think of Texas, I think of my husband and raising our babies in this beautiful state that we're proud to call home," shares Barrett. "It was my first time really meeting Miranda while writing this song, and I'm thankful that we could bond over our love for Texas. I always enjoy writing with Hillary too, so it was a great group of ladies to be in the room with. This one just fell out naturally, and I love everything about it."
