'Fast & Furious 7' Release Date, Vin Diesel Shares Paul Walker's Death 'Affected His Acting' (VIDEO)
Fast and Furious 7 filming has wrapped and the new release date has been set, but the cast is still dealing with the loss of their friend and co-star, Paul Walker.
Vin Diesel has been especially open about his emotional struggles on and off set, writing open posts on his social media sites to share his feelings with his fans (you can read one of his Facebook posts from June below).
Diesel recently even admitted that the tragedy was affecting his acting when they returned to shooting.
He shared, "It's a heavy thing... I grew up in the (nightclub) bouncing world and we lost people bouncing, but the brotherhood in Paul Walker was something completely different. We grew up in the business together and we became famous together and we represented the biggest franchise together and he was my partner and it's a strange thing... I've been acting all my life and they don't teach you in acting how to mourn someone and simultaneously pretend they're in a scene with you. It's one of the darker moments in my journey..."
After Walker's death, he started to rethink shooting dangerous action scenes and became more aware of his situation. He added, "A lot of people don't realise when you do these action movies you put your life on the line more than you should... When you're doing these action films and you're... for lack of a better description, a method-like thespian, and when you go into these action sequences you put yourself in harm's way in kind of an unfair fashion..."
Universal originally moved Fast & Furious 7 release date from July 11, 2014 to April 10, 2015, following Paul Walker's death last November, but now they have announced that the movie will release one week earlier on April 3, 2015.
Walker died on Nov. 30 in Santa Clarita, Southern California in a tragic car accident while the cast and crew were on a hiatus period. His shocking death has sent shockwaves through Hollywood. He was 40 years old.
Diesel went to Facebook on June 17 to write this post:
"There wasn't a scene in the saga he didn't want to discuss, improve... even with just a changing of a line or adding a specific nuance to enrich a moment," Diesel wrote. "Those work ethics and drive to be both truthful, and in his own way, evolve the decade spanning character is what made his character as iconic as it has become."
"He always knew I would fight for him... whether it was to protect his deal or to protect his integrity... and he knew that if it made for a better film, I was going to do whatever it took," Diesel said. "With our new ambitious vfx team, the whole cast and crew has had to adjust to this awkward and uncomfortable process of pixels over people. Aside from the obvious strains it places on the director, the challenge is not to allow it to compromise what makes the character so special."
