Samsung Galaxy Alpha Release Date 2014 Rumors, Price, Specs Updates

The Galaxy Alpha smartphone has been kept well under wraps and not even officially announced from Samsung yet, but many think this will be the new phone to rival Apple's upcoming iPhone 6. 

If you want to get an idea of potential price points, British retailer MobileFun is offering pre-orders of the Galaxy Alpha for $939 without a SIM card, which would make it the highest price phone on the market. The website details the Alpha's fingerprint scanner and a 12-megapixel camera.

The Galaxy Alpha will reportedly feature a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 resolution, octa-core Exynos 5 processor "for unprecedented speed and multi-tasking," 32GB of storage, 12-megapixel camera with "superfast autofocus," 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, fingerprint sensor, heart rate sensor, 4G LTE support, and Android 4.4.2 KitKat (the Weibo page reports that the Alpha will come in both 4.7- and 6.7-inch sizes).

"The Samsung Galaxy Alpha features an octa-core Exynos processor," MobileFun writes in the phone's extensive description. "This means that there are eight powerful processor cores to handle the phone's most power-hungry functions and allows the Alpha to run multiple tasks seamlessly as well as also preserve its battery life by shutting down the main cores when processor heavy functions are not being used."

Photos that have shown up claiming to be the Galaxy Alpha on Chinese social media site Weibo show a metal design, which has been an iPhone trademark since the iPhone 5 and never been used before on past Galaxy models. Many will be quick to say that Samsung is ripping off the Apple design. 

There have been photos showing a white and a black design but no gold option for the Galaxy Alpha have surfaced yet.

Some reports are saying that August 13th could be a date that an announcement will be made.
