Wande Changes Her Name to Anike
Christian female rapper and Reach Records artist Wande is now known as Anike. "The name I felt led to go by publicly is 'Anike,' the short form of my fully hyphenated new middle name, Ireoluwa-Anike, meaning the goodness of God: something to care for and cherish, not take for granted." says Anike about the name change.
She adds, "This isn't a marketing scheme, it's just a life of full obedience, surrender, and submission to the Lord."
Discover the groundbreaking influence of Anike, formerly known as Wande, a pioneer in Christian music and the first Christian female rapper with major commercial success. Formerly known as Wande, she has embraced a new chapter, dedicating her life to glorifying Yahweh and letting go of her birth names "Mutiat" and "Yewande" that reflected Muslim practices & African spirituality roots.
Anike, the first female Christian rapper to tour with icons like Lecrae and collaborate with artists like TobyMac, has a unique blend of hip-hop, R&B, and pop. She was the first female artist signed to Reach Records and has been featured on GRAMMY-nominated projects and Billboard's #1 album "The Mav Way." Influential figures like Michelle Obama and Kirk Franklin have recognized her contributions on their playlists as well.
Anike's versatility extends to appearances in ESPN and Apple commercials, performances at the Essence Festival, and hosting "Girl Talk" on TBNx, focusing on women's spiritual empowerment. Her engaging comedic content and life talks, like "Hallelujah Roll Call," have amassed millions of views. Anike-a visionary with millions of streams on Spotify alone-continuing to shape how Christians engage with culture.
