'Late Late Show' Replacing Host Craig Ferguson on CBS for James Corden?
James Corden New 'Late Late Show' Host Replacing Craig Ferguson on CBS?
It appears that CBS has found their next host for the "Late Late Show" to replace Craig Ferguson. James Corden is in talks with CBS to take over the 12:35 a.m. time slot according to The Hollywood Reporter . He is not well-known (yet) in America but has a huge social media presence of 4.35 million twitter followers.
The 35-year-old English actor-producer-TV personality who first had success on the British series Gavin and Stacey. In 2012 he won a Tony Award for his role in the comedic play One Man, Two Guvnors. Next up for Corden is roles in the anticipated Disney big-screen musical Into the Woods and the Mark Ruffalo-Keira Knightley film Begin Again.
If Ferguson does exit the "Late Late Show" in December when his contract expires, he will have been the host for 10 years.
"I'll be stepping down at the end of this year, in December. Then I'll go and do something else, probably, I'm thinking carpentry, but I haven't made my mind up yet," Ferguson said on Late Late Show earlier this year. "I don't know what I'm going to do yet, but I feel doing this show for 10 years, that's enough."
CBS entertainment chairman Nina Tassler shared in July during summer Television Critics Association press tour that no decision has been made yet. "Obviously, it's an incredibly valuable time period," she said in April of the future of 12:35 a.m. "We haven't really thought about it yet. We want to let this sink in."
Other hosting names that have been thrown into the mix as possible replacements include Joel McHale, Neil Patrick Harris and Aisha Tyler.
Ferguson has several projects he can focus on, including hosting Celebrity Name Game, that he will host and executive produce this Fall, as well as continuing to develop new TV projects with his production company, Green Mountain West.
